Today I went to visit the Braunstone Gate Community Garden, which is a volunteer-run pocket garden in the West End of Leicester. I spoke with John and Jeff about the origins of the garden, and about how they have managed during the lockdown. They told me how people can get involved, and what they feel are the benefits of connecting with growing and recycling things. There’s a growing network of community spaces in Leicester and other cities, and the more we can let people know where to find them, the better.
It was also good to chat with Northside Bikes about the free servicing and work they are doing on helping people to get out on their bikes by checking them over and fixing them up.
